Live on 5 Songs: Milka Djordjevich and Chris Peck
Friday, March 12 6:30 pm
Lobby Gallery
Choreographer Milka Djordevich and composer Chris Peck imagine a reversal of the historical divide between music and dance in order to rediscover music as a practice of the body and dance as a mode of listening. A series of collaborative duets accumulate to form an experience in which dance and music become indistinguishable.
Martin Kersels: Live on 5 Songs
Martin Kersels's 5 Songs is a sculpture that has double life as a stage for performance. Designed with the idea that the performer needs to adapt to the surface and the materiality of the sculpture--and therefore never truly feels comfortable--5 Songs attempts to be an extension to any performer while at the same time being extended by any performer. Kersels has curated an eclectic mix of performances to take place on and around 5 Songs that occur throughout the duration of the Biennial.

[edit] Finger at Monkeytown
Sunday, January 17
Red Raga + Dogr + Chris Peck's Finger Ensemble + Leypo/Jerry Smith + Mariko Endo
Melting ice paintings frame our cellar laboratory of the sensorium.
(7:00pm) $5, $10 minimum

This night: A transient and mercurial tapestry woven from disparate yet harmonious fibers. A pair of films by the nyc based painter Nitin Mukul, who painted on ice, filmed it melt, and edited the gloriously shifting colors and textures into a hypnotic gestalt. these films will be accompanied by live music from Nitin and Gregory Reynolds. A performance by Dogr, who spins tales of mythic urban life over a pillow of electro acoustic sound and inventive film. An interpretation of Chis Peck's poetic score 'finger' by an odd group of electric and acoustic musicians who are also joined by a video artist of the sobriquet Naval Cassidy. A film and live music from Leyna Marika Papach and Jerry Smith, some of which is about dreaming and flying. Finally, a dance by Mariko Endo, who has been known to rearrange and restructure the particles of a room simply by moving in it. A night for the books. A night to send Monkeytown off to wherever it may go.

New release from Manpack Variant available from Chocolate Monk
I know you kids are down with the importance of cleansing ones pallet, so at this time of year when your head is recovering from all the Festivus festering I'd like to point you in the direction of the all new release from Manpack Variant, the drunken toddler child of one Jaime Fennely (Peesseye, pee in my face with surgery, Phantom Limb & Bison) and some slackjaw called Chris Peck. A true dip into the slimey-yet-wonderous tank of "Man, I'd love to see the movie that was meant to be the soundtrack for." Enginered by audio wizard and Sun City 'resident' Scott Colburn. Now take your instruments and your chorus and stick them where the light don't bite, baby.
